arrival day - zagreb
Dobro Dosli (welcome) We look forward to hosting you on a magical week in Croatia! Upon your arrival at the Zagreb Intl Airport, you will be met and driven to your hotel in Zagreb’s City Center. Here you can relax at your hotel or take a stroll around the famed Ban Jelicic Square.
day 1: zagreb -> pag island (transfer day)
Nutrition begins early at your hotel… Afterward, you’ll grab your bags, load up the van and head to Island Pag, our base-camp island for the trip. Destination: Novalja town, Island Pag where our modern villa condominiums are located, Ville Sunca.
Days 2 to 8: pag island
We typically use our first island day as a “chill day” allowing the body to settle into it’s new time-zone and environment. We begin each day by a sunrise walk down to the water for a warm Adriatic water Swim or SUP and get our day going.
After our morning activity, we’ll grab breakfast and head out on our days adventures. We are typically in the water most of the days and we head to lunches somewhere close to us where ever we are on the island. Afterward, we return to base camp to shower, relax and then grab dinner as the sunset begins to illuminate the sky. After dinner we usually walk to the town center, grab a dessert and chill some more.
Over the weeks adventure on Island Pag, we will explore the other areas of the Island. As example, in the Metanja region, known as the barren side of the island, it offers a surreal moonscape topography and is amazing for warm water swimming, snorkeling and paddle boarding to amazing private coves. The unusual landscape on Metanja and other areas nearby like Rucica, are a natural phenomena occurring from centuries of the Bura winds.
On the other side of Island Pag, is Babe (prounounced: “ba-beh”) Beach where we often set out each morning with SUP boards for a paddle along the natural coves and its forest laden coastline.
As we access other areas on island Pag or the smaller surrounding islands, we grab a boat for the day to do that. We’ll head to places like Dolfin Island, Mali Losinj, Rab Island and then over to Zavratnica Bay. Where we get more water time in more epic and pristine waters of the Adriatic Sea.
All throughout the week we will be visiting other places on Pag Island that are not water related. Such as a 2 mile coastal hiking tour of a 2000 year old Olive Tree Orchard. After this, we grab a few bottles of incredible organic olive oils made from those same trees by local artisans.
We’ll also take time during the week to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of town Zadar. Where the ancient streets date back a thousand years and the villages and cathedrals nearly as long as well.
day 9: PAG island -> zagreb (transfer day)
Today, is our final transfer day but your journey doesn’t end yet. Today you will be immersed in great history again. After our morning nutrition, we head back up north to the capitol city of Zagreb. Arriving in the afternoon, we settle in to our hotel and then head out to explore the upper town of Old Zagreb via the Funicular Railway. Here, you will find the famous St Marks Church, the Croatian Parliament, the world known, Kamenita Vrata (The Stone Gate), and one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe called “K Crnom Orlu” (“At the Black Eagle”). And as stories go, it’s where Dante’s great-grandson once worked. The gothic Cathedral in Zagreb’s city center is also a must see. This is also a great time to do some personal shopping, take some photos and soak it all in. At days end, we will meet up and have a group dinner where we can share stories of the amazing week we had and toast to new and lasting friendships.
This day is all yours. Depending upon your flight departure times, you can either head to the airport early or enjoy your morning coffee in the old town square. Your driver will take you to the airport with plenty of time to board your flights home, or your trips next destination.
